If we take it to be his last hurrah, what do you think he is saying?  In your opinion, how has his writing developed?

Please extend an invitation to your parents and friends for Thursday evening's presentation.  Mr. J. and I would also appreciate you asking your parents if they would be willing to volunteer as chaperones for any or all of the night.

Last Othello question - we have discussed this in class, but please give the following some thought.  So far we have read Othello and Romeo & Juliet.  Would either of these work for the production for next year?  Our next play is The Taming of the Shrew for those of you who would like to get a jump on the reading.

See you tomorrow.  FYI - rehearsals are going very well for the first days - good work everyone.  Remember to schedule to come and be in the audience at some points.

Act Five - due Friday:)

Here we are at the end.  Heartbreaking, but - why does Iago live?  Who do you think is the antagonist now that you have read the whole play?  Has your opinion changed from Wednesday?  What do you notice about Othello's last speech?

Act Four - due Wednesday

This act is violent - both emotionally and physically.  Be warned!  Iago says "Work on, my medicine, work on!"  What do you think of jealousy as a drug?

Act 3- due Wednesday

Yes, I am a pink and fluffy person.  Since next week is finals, I am making the Act 3 blog due on Wednesday, instead of Monday.  Act 4 will be on Tuesday after finals.  Enjoy!

Act 2

So - some thoughts. When two people are in love, is it anybody else's business? Why not keep it to yourselves. Keep that precious secret?

Nobody seems aware of Iago's duplicity. Desdemona can easily match wits, as you will see in Act 2 - but notice the change from verse to prose. Why do you think Shakespeare does this?

Discuss the dramatic irony present already:)

Act One

Ok folks, it looks as if most of you have a basic idea of the plot, although there are some misconceptions, which is to be expected. So .... you will be reading Act One. With Leo Africanus in mind, pay attention to the animal references, and discuss their significance.  Post discussion questions as you have in the past for each act (5 per act).  You may post new questions/discussion points, or respond to one someone has posted.  These posts will be worth 10 points, so take time and thought:)
